How to search for abortion providers in the yellow pages.


Anti choicers  use deceptive tactics in their ads in the yellow pages as they do on the internet in order to coerce women to continue with an unwanted pregnancy.

Most anti abortion organizations will place their ads just before the  abortion providers' ads - under the section "Pregnancy counselling and related services" - which appears before the section "Pregnancy Termination Services".

Their aim is  to catch unaware women searching for abortion services, with the   sole aim  of dissuading them from having an abortion. Their ads do not say that they are anti-abortion. Some will even use the female symbol to give their ad a feminist veneer. While they may provide assistance to women who whish to continue with their pregnancy they will NOT provide abortion services or contraception advice/supplies, except for abstinance. The wording of their ads includes the following:

* Abortion Councelling.
* 24 Hour Assistance.
* We Care.
* Pre and Post Abortion Counselling.
* Are you Pregnant? Alone? Scared?
* Abortion Alternatives.
* Pregnancy Support Line.
* Free 24 Hour  Counselling Service.
* Pregnancy Help.


Genuine abortion providers  place their ads under the heading "Pregnancy Termination Services" , which comes after the "Pregnancy Counselling and Related Services"  section. They are explicit about providing abortion and often list the various procedures, anaesthesia methods,   plus services such as sterilization, pap smears and birth control/contraception advice. Some abortion clinics also provide counselling services and have smaller ads in the section "Pregnancy Counselling and Related Services" , stating that they provide counselling and pregnancy testing, you can check their phone number if it is the same as in the explicit pro choice ads in the "Pregnancy Termination Services", that way you can avoid ending up with anti abortion "counselling". Even so, it pays to be extra vigilant as sometimes the antis manage to sneak in the termination section, in the local Yellow Pages  for Liverpool, Fairfield area NSW, there is an anti choice organization listed under "Pregnancy Termination Services":

You can recognize a genuine abortion providers by explicit  wording such as:

* Pregnancy Termination.
* Asleep or Awake.
* Medical Abortion
* Lawful Abortion up to #?  weeks.
* Modern Fully Equipped Clinic.
* IV Sedation or Local Anaesthetic.
* One visit, same day procedure.
* Advaced Techniques.
* Abortion by Women Doctors.


Some Abortion Clinics also provide services such as:

* Hormonal contraceptives and IUD insertion.
* Emergency contraception/morning after pill.
* Pap smears/Breast Checks.
* Before/after abortion Counselling.
* Female Sterilization.
* Vasectomy.
* Pregnancy Counselling/Testing.
* Family Planning.
* Contraception and Sterilization  Counselling.

If you live in the US, avoid adds under "Abortion Alternatives" and go to "Abortion Providers". Anti abortion organization have names such as:   Crisis Pregnancy Center, Pregnancy Aid, Birth Right, Open Door, or Pregnancy Counselling Center. When you go to the clinic make sure you check the address very carefully, there maybe a fake clinic in the same street, building or even on the same floor with name and facilites appearing similar to those of the genuine clinic, remember, the anti choice go out of their way to deceive and trick women.  In the US there are about 4000 Crisis Pregnancy Centers and in some parts of the country they outnumber genuine abortion clinics.
